The second piece for piano from a suite of 10 pieces entitled “Histoires”, by the French composer Jacques Ibert.
The pieces sound as vivid as they did in the days they were written. They were written over a period of ten years, from 1912 to 1922, when Ibert lived in Rome. Some of the pieces were inspired by the sights of Spain, Italy and Tunisia, where Iber traveled.
“The Little White Donkey” (Le petit âne blanc), written in the key of F-sharp major, is suitable for intermediate level performers and is known for its staccato texture, conveying the donkey's trot in the left hand.
